Ever since I started playing Ragnarok Online in private servers, I have always wanted to host my own private RO server. If it gets popular, I could be handling 1000+ players a day. With Centauri Communications unlimited 100MBit bandwidth allocation for me, I could do it. And now that all Counter-Strike 1.6 servers have been transferred to the PGN Sponsors, I can finally focus on building a private RO server. I’ll probably be using eAthena as the emulator since…first it’s not illegal unlike Aegis. And second, most private RO servers probably use it.
I’ve played on 100+ RO servers and it can still be crowded…once it gets to 250-500, then you’ll see people on the most common places and once it gets to 1000+, you’ll see them everywhere.
With school being good to me other than my Video Game Development class, I think I can find some time to learn how to properly manage a private RO server. Most servers die before of immature admins who think they can monetize a private RO server that fast. Since my bandwidth is sponsored by Centauri Communications, I wouldn’t even bother monetizing the private RO server (Centauri Communications is also hosting another private RO server in one of its data centers).
I know I can make this happen and I already have plans like sub-domains and stuff. Here’s a brief summary.
Server Name: PGNRO
Web Domain: http://ro.joinpgn.com
Rates: 5x 5x 5x
Most of the PGN community right now plays Counter-Strike 1.6, so they’re not really into Ragnarok Online, but once I get the people that play in private RO servers in PGNRO, then I know it will be popular…just like how popular the PGN CS 1.6 servers are. I wish myself luck on this one.
