Half of me tells me to not care at all and the other half tells me to care about it. Game Rail has been hosting four PGN servers located across the USA and most of them half reached the top 100 status of popular servers in the USA.
The servers were given when Game Rail sent an e-mail that they want to sponsor clans/communities. I got hooked up by one of their employees and so was given four game servers. But then that employee left and I can’t update the servers anymore. And it’s been a couple of months now and their promise to let me update the server is still up in the air. Frankly if it weren’t for the players complaining about how hackers can just come and go as they wish (Since there’s a lack of admins), plus the added fact that these servers are so outdated that it makes the servers look bad.
One of my admins (Who as a sidenote is extremely dedicated to PGN) told me that Thor (Game Rail employee) told him that if I send the game server files, then he can update them…right. That’s what he said many months ago…I don’t blame him though, Game Rail is a company and he is working for them…it’s pretty busy so he said, and I believe him.
I already deleted the old Game Rail updates so I have to re-upload them again, and that’ll take one hell of a long time since these are big update files. But for the sake of not losing my trust on Game Rail, I’ll do it…I just hope they deliver this time with their promise.
The updates will be:
- Add/Delete/Modify an admin’s access on the fly.
- 32 slot map upgrades.
- More custom maps.
- Change PGNBBS.CSProject.Org to http://www.joinpgn.com as the website.
- Add AMX Bans support – Which I need to fix A.S.A.P. if I want Game Rail to be added…wow that just made it harder for me since Thor said he doesn’t know when he’ll be able to update the server once I send the files. Damn…promises promises…promises.
The only problem with AMX Bans now is that it doesn’t show up the admins’ SteamID on the Ban Page. And I HAVE TO FIGURE THAT OUT if I want Game Rail to have AMX Bans.
Sigh…looks like the Game Rail update has to wait after all…if only I could update it anytime I want like the Branzone servers. Then all of these wouldn’t be a problem. Thor’s worried about giving me SSH and SFTP access, I mean even plain old FTP is enough (Just not that secure). Oh well…this is the PGN Founder life. Enjoy.
