Update On Branzone Sponsorship Changes

Well, overall it’s a good news so let me first start with some drawbacks.

Right now, the PGN servers are hosted as Optimized 512fps game servers by Branzone. And well…since the servers are popular, it takes a huge amount of processor power from the dedicated servers hosting them. Branzone has sent me an e-mail informing me that they’d be changing them to their normal 128fps servers to save resources. I told them that it’s fine so we’re just waiting for them to change it.

I also told them to change the rest of the servers to 128fps whenever they get a chance. And then I asked them if they can cover the servers hosted by the now closed Game Rail company. And Brandon said that Branzone could and they could give us one 32 slot server on each location with 128fps. I’ve already talked about the difference between a 128fps server and a 512fps server in a public server environment and basically, people don’t even notice the difference. For them, as long as the server doesn’t lag it’s fine.

So, now…I’m preparing for the big update on Branzone servers. Right now we have CA, WA, and IL servers from them. After the big update we’ll be having the following locations.

  • California – 2x
  • Washington – 1x
  • Texas – 1x
  • Illinois – 1x
  • Georgia – 1x
  • Virginia – 1x
  • New York – 1x
  • London – 1x

Nine 32 slot public game servers in total. If we get them all full, that’s almost 300 players playing at the same time. Damn, PGN is really getting bigger.

Thanks Branzone!
