So I’ve always wondered how the hell do these photographers make panoramic photos since I really like them…so I then Google’d it. I found out that Photoshop has the Automerge function wherein you just take a bunch of photos of the scene that you want to turn into a panorama and Photoshop will do the rest. Here’s a sample! I’ll definitely be doing this more often now…it’s awesome!

Photoshop Automerge Rocks
Tuesday, May 27th, 2008AMD 64 X2 4200+ 2.2GHz @ 2.8GHz
Tuesday, May 20th, 2008Haha, so yeah I manage to squeeze more than 500MHz more on this cpu. Considering that it’s quite old, I’m still impressed by it since I don’t play games that much anymore I’m going to squeeze in as much extra juice as I can to my hardware. It’s idling kind of hot right now – around 50 degrees celcius but this is only on stock HSF from AMD and I’m only running one 120mm fan in my Lian Li PC P60 Armorsuit case. I have three at the front and one 140mm on top. I haven’t used them since I’m still contemplating what to do with these blue LEDs. They bother me a lot and I don’t want my computer to be all shiny and flashy. I’ll probably buy three 120mm fans, one 140mm fan from New Egg just so I can replace these damn blue lit fans.
What Is This Noise
Tuesday, May 20th, 2008So I manage to migrate my desktop components to my new motherboard. But something is definitely wrong or not setup correctly, the freaking stock heat sink and fan from the AMD 64 X2 4200+ is running at 100% fan speed all the time…I need to figure out how to set this properly. Plus the audio jacks up front from my Lian Li PC P60 doesn’t work, I have no idea how to make them work as I haven’t ask around yet. I just got Firefox installed right now plus Vista SP1, I had to use my OEM Product Key that came with the HP A6000N (The one that is stickied to the side panel). So I think I can’t use that one anymore…I have another one, in my laptop but it’s blurry as heck. Hopefully when the time comes, I get to talk to a nice customer support agent so they can help me recover it.
I also manage to setup my new computer table in my room, it’s uhm…pretty! I’ll take pictures soon and post it here or in one of my communities that I frequent. Anyway, I’ll be moving things to my room now, hehehe.
Rebuilding My Desktop And Laptop
Monday, May 19th, 2008Well before Summer classes start, I will be rebuilding my desktop and laptop, so that means I’ll be reformatting both. I bought a new computer case for my desktop, it’s a Lian Li PC P60 Armorsuit case and for me it looks awesome. Not because it has blue LEDs which I absolutely hate, but because it looks so dominating. I still have to buy a couple of stuff for it like the Lian Li CD/DVD Driver Cover Bezel, that way it still looks sleek inside even if you open the door. I’m still thinking whether I should do liquid-cooling for my desktop, air-cooling with after market parts or just leave it like that…all stock. Maybe I could push the AMD 64 X2 4200+ to 2.5GHz on a stock heat sink and fan. The inside of my case would look dull though, alas I plan on taking high-quality pictures of my case and posting it online when I get the chance.
My laptop has Fedora 9 installed and it has a problem of its own too, the NVIDIA drivers dont’ work well with the new Xorg that Fedora 9 shipped out with plus the Firefox x86_64 app doesn’t like Flash. Other than that it works fine so far…I’m pretty sure I’ll find more problems with it later on as it is after all the cutting-edge in GNU/Linux. I tried CentOS 5.1 but it’s too old for my test, it ships out with Firefox 1.5 I believe…and the only thing I liked from it is it’s an enterprise grade distribution so it is more stable or mature as some other people would like to call it compared to Fedora 9 which pretty much is a test bed for RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
Done With Dedicated Server Maintenance
Friday, May 16th, 2008Holy crap, that took a whole day. At least now I have separate accounts for the PGN web portal and my own personal web portal. Wuhoo! Finally! Damn, I also got the dns entries to work now. I’ll probably wait until Josh talks to me again and then I’ll ask him to delete some of the dns entries for the JoinPGN.com domain because it looks like I won’t be using them anymore. Anyway, I’m glad I was able to restore all of the files back to how it was…except now that they’re in their own dirs and accounts. Go me.
Spring 2008 Semester Is Over
Thursday, May 15th, 2008Wuhoo! Finally! Omg, and what a good semester it was. I didn’t get any depression attacks whatsoever! Awesome. And all through that time I was managing PGN (My Gaming Comnmunity). And it has over 1000+ registered users now. Man, I’m so happy, hehehe. I believe I have good standing on my four classes which were Data Structures, Computer Architecture, GNU/Linux class, and the Game Development class. I’m expecting some decent grades and hopefully it’ll help my GPA a lot. I’m also going to take some summer classes so I can take off a bit of my load before Fall 2008 Semester starts.
Signed Up For AdBrite
Tuesday, May 13th, 2008Well, since Google decided to disable my AdSense account I decided to try AdBrite after a couple of months of not having any advertisement in my gaming community portal (Pakers Gaming Network). Hopefully this one turns our just fine. Right now I have two ad zones (That’s what AdBrite calls them), a pair of 160 x 600 and 728 x 90 banners. The 160 x 600 will be shown in my front page and any other page under it except the forums…the advertisements on that part is handled by the 728 x 90 banners.
Well anyway, we’ll give it AdBrite a try until I can find a more viable solution regarding showing advertisements in any of my websites.
I Need The 1U Server Online…Soon
Sunday, May 11th, 2008With the way things are going now…I need to send my 1U server to Josh A.S.A.P. because the JoinPGN.com portal is growing too fast and with the amount of users registering everyday to join our community, hosting game servers together with LAMP isn’t a good idea.
Scheduled Dedicated Server Maintenance
Monday, May 5th, 2008Well as soon as the Spring semester is over, I will do some maintenance on the dedicated server hosted by Centauri Communications.
Here’s a couple of things I need to do (Some of which probably requires Josh’s techs to do).
- Repartition the HDD – Right now, the /usr/local has over 150GB while /home and /var/www/html has only round 20GB each. I mean come on! Why was it like that, /home should either be the largest partition…anyway, I still don’t know how to figure out the partitions if /home will be the largest or should I divide it between the /var/www/html directory.
- Clean the system – There’s a couple of ‘stuff’ I need to remove in the system…nothing really critical, just some garbage.
- Upload the server backups – Yep, I need to upload the back ups there since I will be reformatting my desktop computer too.
- Run the PGN Portal in its own separate user account – This I haven’t figured out as well. Hehehe. But I’m reading about Virtualmin (Module for Webmin) and it looks like it’ll be the answer to my problem. Because what I’d like to happen is the PGN portal runs off the www.JoinPGN.com domain, and then when I add new users, they’ll have like a separate website domain that says…www.JoinPGN.com/~username. Something like that, this way I will be able to help those clans out there who need a bit of webhosting (I can probably help them out too with their game server needs as long as they’re a west coast clan/community.
- Install FTP – This goes with the ~username subdomains for every new user so if I ever want to make new game servers, it’ll be under a new username…and then they can have ftp access to it. That way I don’t have to give out shell access ever.
I think the most important part right now is determining if Virtualmin will solve my problems.
