So I was just killing some time today and watching some clips here and there and I noticed something different…it’s on widescreen! At first I was like Did they mess something up on their layout? Hell no. YouTube.com’s going widescreen (Finally wuhoo!) and you can read more about their announcement on their blog. Take a look at my screenshot!
Here’s an excerpt from their blog.
We’re expanding the width of the page to 960 pixels to better reflect the quality of the videos you create and the screens that you use to watch them. This new, wider player is in a widescreen aspect ratio which we hope will provide you with a cleaner, more powerful viewing experience. And don’t worry, your 4:3 aspect ratio videos will play just fine in this new player.
What do you guys think? Personally I’m loving it. I mean come on it’s on widescreen! Who hates widescreen? It’s not that it will stretch the 4:3 videos and make them look ugly or something. If you’re still on 640×480…I really pity you (I really do!), because you’ll never go back once you’ve experienced widescreen.
Now if they could just increase some of their other stuff too…
