Changing/Fixing The Resolution In Sid Miers Civilization III

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Well I bought this game at Steam for $4.99 and as soon as I start it up I found something to whine about…it’s changing the resolution. I mean seriously? You can’t change the resolution? Good thing there’s a small fix. All you have to do is add the following line to your conquests.ini file in your Civilization III directory.

KeepRes=1

For Steam users, it’s at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\sid meier’s civilization iii complete\Conquests\. KeepRes=1 tells Civilization III to keep your current resolution (1440×900 in my case) whhen you start the game.

Enjoy!

My Crucial Ballistix DDR2 1066

Friday, May 29th, 2009

This (in my humble opinion) has got to be one of the sexiest ram sticks I have ever set my eyes upon. I don’t know why I like it, I guess I like it’s yellowness coupled with a black PCB and a stylish chrome border. Right now I’m running two 2GB DDR2 1066 sticks on my Phenom II desktop and well…it doesn’t really look like bling to me. And yes, this is the only reason why I bought four of them! Just to replace my OCZ rams. I only took a quick snapshot of it as I have still to make my very own big lightbox for some amateur product photographs. But what the heck, they are damn sexy. I just hope that my Phenom II desktop will run them at their intended speeds.

Haha! The Waiting Game Is Over!

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Yes yes yes…Spring 2009 grades are here. I did not get a single C for any of classes. This is good…it’s been almost 2 years now since my last hardcore depression attack came. I’ve never experienced any depression attacks whatsoever after that. Is it because of PGN? Or my websites? I’m keeping myself really busy, let me repeat that…I’ve been keeping myself really busy nowadays with all the projects that I’ve scheduled and damn all of those projects never make me think about depression. I’m about to graduate now, I don’t know if I’ll choose to graduate this Fall 2009 or Spring 2010. Will someone hire me? Hehehe.

Project Beauty & Madness (Part 19)

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

I finally had a some free time to work on the Armorsuit case. I also noticed that I need to at least make three more holes on the motherboard tray to route the wires for this second case.

What’s Keeping Me Busy

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

Spring 2009 is over and I’m looking forward to Summer and Fall 2009 semesters. However even if I’m not doing anything right now with regards to school I’ve been really busy lately. In fact I’m so busy I don’t even have time for my JoinPGN and WeRAzn websites. I have a ton of things to do in real-life and as P4rD0nM3 and it’s piling up again because of this!

Why PasteBins Are So Much Better

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Seriously! If you’re someone who majors in Computer Science or some other major that has something to do with writing code then you seriously need to know how to use a PasteBin or also called as NoPaste. Because it’s a horrific experience when you send colleagues your code in let’s say Pidgin. Just take a look at how much better it looks like…

MOSpjirc Component SEO Fix

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

If you have MOSpjirc Component in your Joomla 1.X installation then you would have noticed that it uses the same <title></title> tag as your homepage.  We all know that is bad as far as SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is concerned! Another problem about this component is that it doesn’t add a Meta tag when it generates its pages which means that it’ll use the same Meta tag that your homepage uses! Again, having duplicate Meta tags will hurt your website.

Here’s a simple fix that I’ve come up with. It involves going to your ~/components/com_mospjirc/ directory and looking for the mospjirc.html.php file. Open it and add the following lines right after…

defined( '_VALID_MOS' ) or die( 'Direct Access to this location is not allowed.' );

So it should look like this now.

defined( '_VALID_MOS' ) or die( 'Direct Access to this location is not allowed.' );

$mainframe->setPageTitle(Chatroom);
$mainframe->addMetaTag( 'description', Chatroom);
$mainframe->addMetaTag( 'keywords', Chatroom);

You can change Chatroom to whatever you want. I just used it because that’s basically what MOSpjirc is. Refresh your page right after you saved the file. Now you’ll see the following lines when you view your webpage’s source.

<title>Chatroom</title>
<meta name="description" content="Chatroom" />
<meta name="keywords" content="Chatroom" />

Have fun improving your websites!

JoinPGN.com Site Links

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

This is just plain awesome! For webmasters getting Google Sitelinks usually means that your website is getting popular! This just makes me feel good after going through a test which I did bad. But oh well, things happen and you just have to deal with it.

Windows 7 Release Candiate Now Available For Download

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Microsoft is now allowing the public to download the release candidate of their latest operating system Windows 7. I’m about to download one as well and this will be my first time to use an operating system in its release candidate form from Microsoft. I’m excited!

Head over to the Windows 7 RC Download Page if you want to try it.

Here’s the minimum requirements for Windows 7.

  • 1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 GB RAM (32-bit) / 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

The RC will be available at least through July 2009 and we’re not limiting the number of product keys, so you have plenty of time.
